A Russian military expert has said there will be no peace in Ukraine and claims that Vladimir Putin has “every chance of winning this war.”
Washington’s attempts to broker a meeting between the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Putin and Donald Trump has been met with an angry reaction in the Russian media.
Moskovsky Komsomolets reported “much of what was discussed” in Washington is “unacceptable” to Russia which is nothing more than a “powerful political bomb” planted in the Kremlin.
Komsomolets has claimed that President Zelensky and EU leaders have “managed to pour sugar into the gas tank of the successful negotiation process,” which started last Friday in Anchorage, Alaska.

The BBC’s Steve Rosenberg said the military expert claims peace will not happen inside Ukraine, adding there will also be no “peacemaking.”
He told Komsomolets, “The summit in Alaska and the meeting in Washington are a tactical pause.
“When the West talks about ‘supporting Ukraine’ without deploying NATO troops or lifting restrictions on Kyiv striking deep into Russia, this is a sign of weakness.
“This means that Moscow still has time and room for manoeuvre.”
The military expert added, “Russia still holds the initiative and Ukraine continues to lose territory, while waiting for help that will never come.
“Russia still has every chance to end this war on its terms.”
Moskovsky Komsomolets’ said the Europeans “sweet-talked” President Trump into “seeing their side.”
“Trump was persuaded to drive a wedge between himself and Putin,” it added.
They said the results of the meeting in the White House on Monday was “ambiguous,” warning that the “political duel between Putin and the West is entering the endgame.”
