Russian MP Sergey Mironov has told the US they must stop Israel’s “dangerous provocations” in order to “avoid a global conflict” that it cannot win.
This comes as on Tuesday evening through into the early hours of Wednesday morning Israel carried out several operations one in the Lebanese capital Beirut killing a Hezbollah commander and the other in the Tehran killing the Hamas leader.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said that Israeli jets carried out a “precision strike” in Iran’s capital, Tehran killing Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader.
Mironov told LondonLovesBusiness, “The tragic events in the Middle East have been developing at an alarming rate in recent days.

“First, the provocative shelling of a village in the Golan Heights occupied by Israel; then, the attempted assassination of a Hezbollah commander; and last night, the assassination of a Hamas leader in Tehran.
“The Netanyahu government shows that it is betting on the escalation of the conflict in order to expand it to the entire region and draw the United States into a direct armed confrontation.
“There are also enough supporters of the military scenario in the United States, for whom war is the main source of income. In most cases, in particular in Ukraine, they prefer to fight with someone else’s hands. But unlike Ukraine, the barbaric bombing of Palestine is hitting the entire Arab and Muslim world. And this threatens to be a shock for the West, given the huge number of Muslims and their supporters in these countries.
“The conflict that Israel is so persistently provoking cannot be won by the United States. American society is clearly not ready for new multi-year operations like in Iraq or Afghanistan. And the US Armed Forces are not ready for a large-scale war with Russia and China, as explicitly stated in a recent report by a Congressional commission.
“This means that the only correct course of action for the current and future US administration should be to contain not Russia and China, but its main ally in the Middle East – Israel. So far, it is Israel who is pushing the world to the brink of a global war.”
On Wednesday another close ally of Vladimir Putin, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov called the assassination an “unacceptable political murder” of Haniyeh.
Russian state news reported that Bogdanov said, “This is an absolutely unacceptable political murder, and it will lead to further escalation of tensions.”
Hamas military wing has warned that this will now prompt retaliatory measures against Israel, but stopped short of disclosing any plans and called the assassination a “treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.
