The Belarusian Hajun monitoring group has said that Russian MiG-31K interceptor all weather aircraft that can carry hypersonic Kinzhal ballistic air-to-surface missiles are now in Belarus.

This is the first time in 18 months that the MiG-31K have landed at the Machulishchy airfield in Belarus.

Vladimir Putin uses Belarus to conduct military operations in the northern regions of Ukraine and drones have been used for reconnaissance operations and to attack various targets.

Military expert retired Ukrainian Armed Forces Major Oleksii Hetman said they could be moving their aircraft from airbases in Russia as Ukraine has conducted many successful attacks on airfields.

RBC-Ukraine reported that Hetman warned the transfer of the warplanes could be preparing for a “new massive strike” on Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine.

Hetman said, “There are already warnings from the Main Intelligence Directorate that the Russians are preparing a new massive strike on Ukraine, similar to the one on August 26. This could be part of the preparation for such a strike.”

Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) said, “However, we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of provocations.

“After the Russian Shahed strike near Mozyr, where an oil refinery was accidentally made public, it became clear that Russia might be preparing a provocation against Belarus.”

Since August Belarus has been “concentrating” a significant amount of troops along the shared border of Ukraine.

The Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has assembled tanks, weapons, rocket systems, air defences and special operations forces.

Ukrainian intelligence has warned that Belarus is assembling a “significant number of personnel” in the Gomel region near to the Ukrainian border.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has accused Minsk of using the build-up of thousands of troops “under the guise of exercises.”

Last month dozens of Belarusian tanks and military equipment have been spotted loaded on trains heading to the Ukrainian border.

Footage posted on Russian Telegram shows images of many tanks on trains with the letter “B” marked on the turrets.

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service (DPSU) spokesperson Andriy Demchenko said, “This is tens of kilometers from our border, at different points – different distances.

“What is happening on the territory of Belarus is actively monitored by intelligence units, the Ministry of Defense and the State Border Service in order to understand how the situation is changing, how threatening it can be for Ukraine.

“So that all components of our defense forces, which strengthen this direction, have the opportunity to react in time to any actions.”
