The President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol has declared “emergency martial law” over fears that Kim Jong-Un North Korean forces could attack.
Speaking in an address on TV the South Korean President said they will “eradicate pro-North Korean forces” and will protect their country.
The President said this step is vital to defend South Korea by pledging to “eradicate pro-North Korean forces and protect the constitutional democratic order.”
He accused the opposition of controlling the parliament for sympathising with Pyongyang
and trying to paralyse the government with anti-state activities.
Yoon said that since he took to the helm in 2022, he has struggled to push his agenda against anti-controlled parliament.
Yoon’s party has been in a deadlock with the liberal opposition Democratic Party over the 2025 budget bill.
The South Korean President has dismissed calls for investigations into scandals regarding his wife and senior officials, this has drawn criticism from political rivals.
