Spotify has been on a steady run of updates lately, and the streaming service has now announced a major visual overhaul of its Wear OS app focused on cleaner visuals and easier navigation.

What’s new in the Spotify Wear OS redesign?

The updated Spotify app for Wear OS introduces a cleaner, more intuitive interface built around swipe gestures. When you open the app, you land on a familiar player view, but navigation now feels more fluid. A swipe down brings up a new music-first mode that puts album and creator art front and center, creating a more immersive visual experience.

Controls are also easier to use. You can tap to play or pause, or double-tap to skip tracks, without digging through menus. Swiping up takes you straight to key sections like Home, Search, and Your Library, including downloaded content, making it easier to find something new or jump back into your favorites.

How does it improve control and discovery on your wrist?

Beyond playback, the update adds quick access to essential controls. A simple tap lets you manage your queue, set a sleep timer, or open a more detailed menu for actions like visiting an artist page or starting a radio station based on a track.

The focus here is on reducing friction. Instead of relying on your phone, you can browse, discover, and control your listening sessions directly from your smartwatch with minimal effort.

The redesigned Spotify Wear OS experience will roll out over the coming days via the Google Play Store. Users have to update to the latest version of the app to access the new features. Spotify says it plans to introduce more features to its Wear OS app in the coming months.
