The Prime Minister is being accused of disregarding “national security considerations” appointing Peter Mandelson as the ambassador to the US.

Sie Keir Starmer ignored the security concerns issued to him by the British security services, Sly News has reported citing two sources who insist that Starmer ignored the concerns over Lord Mandelson as part of the vetting process.

On Thursday morning Starmer’ spokesperson strongly defended Downing Streets vetting process, suggesting that emails between the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstien and Mandelson were not known.

The former Foreign Secretary Priti Patel blasted the Prime Minister telling Sky News the accusations are “extraordinary” and that Starmer’s government is in “chaos.”

Dame Priti blasted: “For Keir Starmer, and his Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney, to have appointed Lord Mandelson despite concerns being raised by the Security Services shows a blatant disregard of all national security considerations and their determination to promote their Labour Party friends.

“Starmer leads a crisis riddled government consumed by a chaos of his own making, because he puts his Party before the needs of our country.

“The country deserves the honest truth this spineless Prime Minister refuses to give them.”

Starmer’s chief of staff Morgan McSweeney is also under pressure as he is close to Lord Mandelson and it is thought he was also keen on Mandelson being appointed.

Shadow minister Alex Burghart warned: “Knives coming out for McSweeney now.”

On Thursday morning Lord Mandelson was sacked over allegations of his relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein was a prolific sex offender and he had a strong friendship with the disgraced Prince Andrew.

Stephen Doughty, the Foreign Office minister told the House of Commons that Mandelson has been sacked.

Doughty told MPs, “In light of additional information in emails written by Peter Mandelson, the Prime Minister has asked the foreign secretary to withdraw him as ambassador to the United States.

“The emails show that the depth and extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is materially different from that known at the time of his appointment.”

He added that the former ambassador had suggested “that Jeffrey Epstein’s first conviction was wrongful and should be challenged”.

This is “new information” and “in light of that” he has been sacked.
