Sir Keir Starmer is facing a rebellion from his own MPs and opposition MPs who are calling on him to resign or call “a vote of confidence” amongst his Labour ministers.

The Tories have called on Labour MPs to “stop moaning” and put Starmer “out of his misery” which comes as the Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said the Prime Minister has “lost control.”

Matt Vickers, the deputy Tory chairman, said, “The rats are abandoning the sinking ship that is Keir Starmer’s premiership.

“Labour MPs should stop moaning and put him out of his misery. The country deserves so much better than this weak, chaotic government.

The public is crying out for leadership with a backbone, a strong team and the clear plans to get Britain working again. That is Kemi Badenoch’s new Conservative Party.

The Liberal Democrats have said on Monday that Starmer should “call a vote of confidence” in Parliament and jog on he loses.

Daisy Cooper has told journalists Monday lunchtime, “Advisors can come and go, but ultimately the buck stops with the prime minister.

“The prime minster must call a vote of confidence amongst his Labour MPs this week and if he loses that vote, then he should step aside.

The British public are crying out for a prime minister and a government that will focus on the cost of living and fixing the NHS and social care.

“They don’t want to see a prime minister that’s more occupied with his own survival once the country pays the price.”

She was told that this could lead to market instability, Cooper said, “But the entire country needs stability… that’s why w e’re calling on the prime minister to hold this confidence this vote this week, so that we know either way whether he’s staying or going.

She added, “When Labour came to power, they promised change, but we’ve seen nothing of the sort.

“In fact, Labour increasingly looks like the continuity Conservatives. The British public are fed up with this soap opera.”

The SNP’s Westminster leader Stephen Flynn has called on Starmer to “do the decent thing and resign.”

Flynn said on Monday in a statement, “The Labour government is in chaos and completely distracted from the issues that matter, like helping families with the cost of living, which has soared under Keir Starmer.

Flyn added the government has “lurched from one crisis to another and has failed to deliver the change voters were promised.

He added, “It’s not in Scotland’s interests – or anyone’s interests – for this chaos to continue endlessly.

It’s clear voters have lost confidence in Keir Starmer and, with his own MPs calling for him to go, he has become a lame duck leader who lacks the authority needed to deliver change.

“This never-ending chaos can’t go on. Keir Starmer should do the decent thing and resign.”
