For too long, war has felt distant. But Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer is warning Brits that peace is cracking under our feet — and Britain must act now.
“Russia has shown its appetite for aggression. Its threats extend across Europe — tearing at our security and social order,” Starmer said.
“Disinformation, sabotage, cyber-attacks — they are undermining our way of life. We must be ready to fight if needed.”
Starmer highlighted support for Ukraine and NATO, warning that Russia could be ready to strike the Alliance by the end of the decade.
“We seek peace, not conflict — but we must be prepared.
“Europe is a sleeping giant. Our economies dwarf Russia ten times over. Yet fragmentation weakens us. We must unite industrially, technologically, and militarily.”
Starmer said a Carrier Strike Group is to be deployed to North Atlantic & Arctic, led by HMS Prince of Wales, operating with US, Canada, and NATO allies.
Royal Marine Commandos have doubled in the Arctic, securing Europe’s northern flank.
Next-generation missiles with Germany, France, Italy, with drones for Ukraine — cutting-edge weapons hitting Putin where he least expects.
Starmer has also pledged that Royal Navy will be upgraded with the largest warship deal in British history.
“Any adversary must know — in a crisis, our combined UK-French nuclear strength is unstoppable.
“UK companies account for over a quarter of Europe’s defence industrial base — 239,000 jobs creating cutting-edge tech, AI, and weapons. We’re turbocharging a European industrial revival.”
Starmer signalled closer economic integration with the EU to strengthen defence, fuel growth, and secure Europe.
“Deeper alignment drives security, growth, and industrial power. The status quo is not fit for purpose — and I will fight for Britain’s interests.”
“Soft on Russia is weak on NATO. Extremes on left or right would surrender our security — we will not let that happen.”
“We must defend democracy, liberty, and the rule of law. Stand up, take responsibility, and build a Europe where our people live without fear — but with determination and hope.”
Starmer’s message is clear, the UK will be spending more. Deploying more. Integrating more. Europe and Britain united. Ready to deter. Ready to fight. Ready to win.
