The Met Office has said that Storm Floris will bring strong winds and heavy rainfall across the northern half of the UK next week.

On Friday the Met Office issued a yellow warning for wind for the northern half of the UK, this includes Scotland, northern England, Northern Ireland and north Wales.

The warning comes in to force from 6am on Monday 4 August until 6am on Tuesday 5 August 2025.

Matthew Lehnert is a Met Office Chief Meteorologist said, “Across the warning area, many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60-70mph more likely at higher elevations and around exposed coasts in Scotland.

“There is a small chance that some locations here could even record gusts of 85mph.”
