Three Baltic states are rapidly reinforcing their borders in preparation for a potential war with Russia in the wake of Vladimir Putin’s conflict in Ukraine.

Lithuanian forces are bombing prototype bunkers to test them against a possible Russian attack.

Lithuanian troops are conducting the tests in Pabradė, eastern Lithuania at a military training area simulating an attack from Russia artillery shells, the Kyiv Post reported.

Those prototype bunkers that withstand the bombings and remain intact will be used across the country for civilians.

The government has vowed to have the prototype bunkers built are the military training area by the end of the year.

Estonia is also testing prototype bunkers and the Estonian government is planning to build 600 across the country along the eastern border with Russia.

Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian officials are watching the tests the Estonian army confirmed.

The three Baltic states are also pressing ahead with reinforcing their armed forces in preparation for any possible Russian attack and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have all vowed to spend 5% of their GDP on defence.

The three countries are also reinforcing their borders with Belarus and Russia, this forms the “Baltic Defence Line” and in Poland they are doing the same called the “East Shield” programme.

In February the Danish intelligence services warned that once the war in Ukraine has ended then Putin could be ready within six months to possibly start a war with a bordering country in the Baltic region, and within five years Moscow could then attack Europe, even though the Kremlin has said they have no intentions.
