The US President’s Special Envoy to Russia has caused concern in the White House over breaching the standards of diplomatic practice during Kremlin discussions.

The New York Post (NYP) cited unnamed sources over Steve Witkoff’s high-stakes diplomacy with Russia and Iran.

Witkoff has been accused of breaching the standards of US diplomatic practice by using a Kremlin interpreter whilst hold discussions with Russian officials.

A source said that Witkoff is a “nice guy, but bumbling f***ing idiot,” adding, the “he should not be doing this alone.”

On 25 April Witkoff met with Vladimir Putin and had no advisers, experts, military officials that normally go with US negotiators, which is standard practice.

During a meeting in St Petersburg, Russia Witkoff held discussions concerning a peace deal of on the “fiver territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson oblasts and Crimea.

During an interview with Fox News on 14 April, Witkoff said, “I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very important for the world at large.”

He said that his talks with Putin were “compelling” and claimed that the Russian dictator has a desire for “permanent peace,” but it “took a while for us to get to” this agreement.

At the time Witkoff said, “I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very important for the world at large.
