Odds have been slashed to 5/1 from 11/1 on Truss to leave her role as Tory leader this year, while she is shorter at 4/7 to go in 2023, meanwhile, Penny Mordaunt is the new 7/2 joint-favourite, with Rishi Sunak, to be the next Tory leader.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “As Tory MPs raise more concerns about Liz Truss’ leadership, with some allegedly calling her 1922 Committee performance ‘just appalling’, she is odds-on at 8/11 to face a vote of no confidence before the next general election.

“The Prime Minister’s odds have been slashed to 5/1 from 11/1 to leave her role this year, while she is odds-on at 4/7 to go by 2023.

“Truss’ hopes of clinging on to her position seem bleak with MPs reportedly holding talks about replacing her. Penny Mordaunt is the new 7/2 joint-favourite, with Rishi Sunak, to succeed Truss as the next Tory leader.”
