Rescue divers have found two bodies inside the sunken superyacht the Bayesian on Wednesday, GB News reported that one of the bodies belonged to a “heavily-built” man, a source said and the identities and sex are not known at this time.
On Monday morning a violent storm which led to a water tornado capsized the yacht which then sunk 50 metres to the bottom of the sea.
Shortly after the yacht sunk the chef, Recaldo Thomas was found and according to the Italian newspaper la Repubblica the bodies were found behind two mattresses in the hull of the vessel.
There are hopes that the four other missing people on the yacht have survived due to air pockets.
On Tuesday an engineer who was involved in the salvage operations for the capsized Costa Concordia Nick Sloane told Sky News that survivors could be trapped in air pockets inside the yacht.
Divers are facing “prohibitive” conditions and the mission leader Marco Tilotta, the inspector of the Palermo Fire Department told Sky News the Bayesian superyacht is lying on its side which is “without any tears.”
“Our job is to help people and hope to find them alive, but clearly the conditions are prohibitive,” he said.
“In our entire careers as divers, these are events that are clearly difficult to prevent and therefore truly unlikely and difficult to manage.
“I don’t dare think of what the people who were there on board experienced.”
