The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued a warning advising against all travel to Israel and Palestine, except for essential trips, due to escalating security concerns in the Middle East.
This guidance reflects the region’s increasing volatility, particularly amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran.
The recent strain in relations stems from stalled negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program, which has become a focal point of international concern.
In light of these developments, the FCDO has taken precautionary measures, including the temporary relocation of some UK diplomatic staff and their dependents from Tel Aviv to a secure location within Israel.
Officials emphasise that this decision is based on ongoing assessments of the evolving security landscape in the region.
“We have temporarily closed the British Embassy in Tehran, this will now operate remotely,” a government spokesperson said.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We have taken the precautionary measure to temporarily withdraw UK staff from Iran.
“Our embassy continues to operate remotely.”
The US advised: “Persons may wish to consider leaving Israel while commercial flights are available.”
The FCDO travel guidance reads: “Due to ongoing regional tensions, we recommend against all but essential travel to Israel and Palestine.
“We continue to recommend against all travel to parts of Israel and Palestine.
“We have taken the precautionary measure to temporarily move some of our staff and their dependents from Tel Aviv to another location within Israel.
“Our Embassy continues to operate as normal. The situation could escalate quickly and poses significant risks.

The travel advisory comes on the heels of the collapse of recent discussions between US and Iranian officials aimed at securing a new agreement on Iran’s nuclear activities. US President Donald Trump has previously warned that military intervention remains an option should Iran fail to comply with demands to curtail its nuclear ambitions.
