The UK chief of defence staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin has said that Russia is “making tactical, territorial gains” in Ukraine, but equally they have suffered their worst month due to high numbers of casualties since the war started.

Admiral Radakin told the BBC that during October Russian forces were losing 1,500 soldier “every single day” who are either being killed or injured.

Vladimir Putin is throwing tens of thousands of Russian lives into the “meat grinder” so he can claim territorial gains in Ukraine, thus far Russian wives and mothers have lost almost 700,000 troops for the so-called “special military operation.”

Speaking to Laura Kuenssberg Sir Tony said that ordinary Russian citizens are being forced to pay an “extraordinary price” for Putin’s war.

Sir Tony added, “There is no doubt that Russia is making tactical, territorial gains and that is putting pressure on Ukraine.”
