Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications (Stratcom) said on Thursday evening that Ukraine is the first country to have been attacked using an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in Dnipro.

Stratcom said in a statement that they will make sure Russia is remembered “in history” for their crimes.

On Thursday morning Russia launched what is through to be an ICBM and President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed the Kremlin has used a “new type” of missile which bears the “characteristics” of an ICBM.

Ukrainian authorities have said an “examination” is ongoing to determine the type of this new ballistic missile that Russia launched.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that “our crazy neighbour” has once again showed his true colours.

During a video address on Thursday President Zelensky said, “Today, our crazy neighbour once again showed what he really is and how he despises dignity, freedom, and the lives of people in general.

“And how afraid he is. So afraid that he uses new missiles. And he is looking around the world for where else to find weapons. Sometimes in Iran, sometimes in North Korea. Today there was a new Russian missile.”

The Russian missile attacked an industrial complex, two houses, nine garages and caused fires, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Serhii Lysak said.

President Zelensky said, “It’s clear that (Russian President Vladimir) Putin is using Ukraine as a testing ground. It’s also clear that he is terrified of normal life next to him. A life where people live with dignity.”

Yurii Ihnat, Acting Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command said, “More information or details regarding this morning’s missile attack are not expected at this time. Please bear with us.”

The British government are “urgently” investigating if Russia strike Ukraine with an intercontinental ballistic missile, if this is true then this is a “very clear escalation” in Putin’s war against Kyiv.

If true, clearly this would be another example of grave, reckless and escalatory behavior from Russia and only serves to strengthen our resolve,” an unnamed UK government representative told The Guardian.
