The President of the Czech Republic has told President Volodymyr Zelensky that he will provide Ukraine with “highly effective combat planes” that will shoot down Russian drones.

In 2023 Czech made the subsonic L-159 fighter jets may be transferred to Ukraine, on Friday Petr Pavel told President Zelensky they will now be delivered in “short time.”

The Czech President who is a former army general and head of NATO’s Military Committee, said that Prague could send Ukraine early warning systems, Reuters reported.

“The Czech Republic can in relatively short time provide several medium combat planes, which are highly effective in fighting drones, and I believe we will manage to quickly and successfully conclude this issue,” Pavel told reporters with Zelensky.

The Aero L-159 is a light subsonic combat jet which has a single seat which can carry weapons ranging from unguided bombs, rocket pods to air-to-air and air-to-ground guided missiles.
