On Thursday Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry has declared a federal emergency in the Belgorod region as Ukrainian troops are punching deeper into mainland Russia.
The Ukrainian invasion has entered its 10th day and they are gaining more territory and now control more than 74 villages in the Belgorod Oblast region.
Ukrainian forces have captured more territory in this time frame than Russia has in eight months which has seen tens of thousands killed.

Emergency Situations Minister Aleksandr Kurenkov claims that officials in the region have organised “comprehensive assistance to the affected population.”
“However, the scale of what is happening does not allow the region to independently eliminate the consequences of the current emergency situation,” he added.
In the Belgorod region authorities have said there has been reports of “unjustified price increases for food and essential goods.”
Ukraine’s military operation in the Kursk region has been seen as a severe blow for Vladimir Putin and Russian political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin told the Kyiv Independent the invasion “has caused significant damage to Putin’s prestige.”
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Monday that his forces now controls more than 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory in the Kursk Oblast.
Oreshkin told the Kyiv Independent that since Ukraine started their full-scale invasion in Russia, which has not been seen since 1941is clear to the Russian people and the Kremlin that “things aren’t going as well for Putin as he’s trying to present it.”
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 the Kremlin was sending a message that they are “invincible and stronger than everyone,” but this has backfired and Putin has been dealt a massive blow to his reputation.
This could be dangerous as he could launch a tactical nuclear weapon in accordance with Russia’s nuclear doctrine to put an end to the invasion, which would not provoke NATO’s Article 5 as it is on his own territory.
