South Korea and Washington have called on South Korea to withdraw their soldiers from Russia and if they do not then they should “think twice” about fighting Ukraine.

The US envoy to the United Nations Robert Wood said, “Should DPRK’s troops enter Ukraine in support of Russia, they will surely return in body bags.

“So I would advise Chairman Kim to think twice about engaging in such reckless and dangerous behaviour.”

Ukrainian intelligence officials have confirmed on Wednesday that North Korean soldiers including special forces are around 30 miles from their border.

The Financial Times reported there is a few hundred special forces among 3,000 troops from the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Kurck Oblast region.

Ukraine has said there is around 12,000 North Korean soldiers whilst US intelligence has estimated the number being closer to 10,000 troops.

The Center for Countering Disinformation has said that thousands of DPRK troops could already be in the Russian occupied Dontesk region of Ukraine.

The CCD warned that the North Korean forces “should not be underestimated” and Andriy Kovalenko said engineer soldiers will soon participate in Vladimir Putin’s war.

Kovalenko said, “These North Korean soldiers will be in Russian uniforms, with Russian documents, mixed with Kalmyks and Buryats, and try to prove that they are DPRK military.

“The Russians are counting on this.

“At least we are aware of such plans of the enemy to do so, first in the Donetsk sector.”

He added, “10-12,000 DPRK troops in one direction will help withdraw Russians from that direction and throw them to the east, in particular to Kharkiv region.

“Therefore, the threat from the DPRK military should not be underestimated.”
