The military counterintelligence of the State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) have arrested a “Russian mole” planning to plot attacks on airfields.

The arrest was made with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as he was preparing to coordinate a Russian attack on were F-16s and Mirage 2000 fighter jets are based.

The SBU investigation uncovered that the Russian mole was transmitting information to help Russian attacks using missiles and drones on Air Force facilities inside Ukraine.

The report reads, “First, he transmitted information for the preparation of new missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation on air force facilities.

“In particular, the enemy’s priority targets were the airfields where the F-16, Mirage 2000 and Su-24 aircraft were based.”

They also found that the Russian agent collected coordinates of Ukrainian aircraft along with their schedules for depart on various missions.

The Russian agent had also supplied information to Russian military intelligence of personal information the Ukrainian Air Force pilots.

The SBU report continued, “For the purpose of conspiracy, the defendant contacted the Russian special serviceman via an anonymous e-mail channel and used ‘secret chats’ in messengers.”
