According to the New York Times the US President Joe Biden is allegedly thinking of providing Ukraine with nuclear weapons after Kyiv gave their up and the end of the Soviet Union which has made them vulnerable.

The Kremlin has hit out saying on Tuesday that this is an act of “ultra-extremist” to provide Kyiv with nuclear weapons and it is “absolutely irresponsible.”

The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, “Even the most provocative policies aimed at escalating tensions have a highly extremist aspect. So, probably, this viewpoint belongs to this ultra-extremist flank.”

Peskov told reporters, “These are absolutely irresponsible arguments of people who have a poor understanding of reality and who do not feel a shred of responsibility when making such statements. We also note that all of these statements are anonymous.”

The New York Times said that sending such weaponry will have serious consequences and will be difficult to carry out.

“Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union. That would be an instant and enormous deterrent. But such a step would be complicated and have serious implications,” the NYT reports.

A member of the US House of Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene has warned that should President Biden do this then it could amount to an “act of treason.”

Greene accused the Biden administration of “trying to start a nuclear war” which could be an attempt “to stop the transfer of power” to Donald Trump who is set to be inaugurated on 20 January 2025.

Greene wrote on X, “This is insane and completely unconstitutional, possibly an act of treason. This must be stopped immediately!!”

According to US media outlets “Biden officials are reportedly seriously considering giving nuclear weapons to Ukraine.”
