Suspended Northamptonshire chief constable Nick Adderley who lied about having served in the Falklands War which saw 255 brave heroic British Armed Forces personnel killed has been found guilty of gross misconduct.

Adderley who has been branded a liar, a fraudster and a Walter Mitty was just 15-years of age when the Falklands war broke out on 2 April 1982.

Adderley exaggerated his rank, length of service and lied about his achievements of having served in the Royal Navy and the British Army.

A three person panel which was chaired by Callum Cowx found “his audacity to be quite staggering” as he lied to many over many long years.

Walter Mitty Adderley even lied on his CV when he applied for a job with Nottinghamshire Police.

Adderley claimed he served for 10 years in the Royal Navy, he had only served just two, he included his service from the Sea Cadets when he was 10-years old to add to the years of service.

Adderley was just an able seaman lied about his rank, he claimed he was a “commander or a lieutenant” and he failed to make corrections of newspaper articles which were not true about his career in the Navy.

He has also been pictured wearing the South Atlantic Medal (SAM) and had been seen wearing this since 2012, which was in fact giving to him by his brother Richard Adderley.

The hearing was told by a Ministry of Defence medal expert that the SAM medal is in fact “110%” a fake and Walter Adderley Mitty had told a “pack of lies” over his brother’s service in the Falklands war.

However, Richard Adderley did not go to the Falklands until three weeks after the war ended, the hearing was told by John Beggs KC, representing the Office of the Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC).
