A healthy relationship requires both parties to have shared interests and Aries and Sagittarius overlap in many characteristics. But they may differ when it comes to speed, so they want their relationship to progress at different paces. “Aries is quite impulsive and takes shortcuts, whereas Sagittarius would prefer to collect data; however, both are complementary to each other,” Newman says.
2. Sagittarius with Leo
Leo, a fixed fire sign, can be set in their ways, but the two have comparable characteristics, so that tends to not be an issue. They both need excitement and novelty, so the relationship is never boring. “One of the key elements that make Leo the ideal companion for Sagittarius is their shared perspective on making life and love interesting and joyful,” Newman says.
“On the other hand, Sagittarius must take their feelings toward Leo seriously,” she says, as their non-commitment tendencies won’t work well with Leo as a partner. Yet, they’re happy to both support each other and to grow.
3. Sagittarius with Libra
Libra is a cardinal air sign that’s highly social, which is great because both Sag and Libra love to be around people and have a large community. They also have many things in common, so their lifestyles, hobbies, and life goals match well.
“Plus they’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders and enjoy seeing the other achieve great things,” Newman says. Libra must take the initiative in this partnership, but they’re able to do so with ease.

1. Sagittarius with Taurus
Taurus is a fixed earth sign that’s known to be sensual and stubborn. Bulls like to stay at home and enjoy the comforts within a close circle of people and with their partner, whereas Sagittarius prefers to travel and meet new people, basically, to be out of the house as much as possible.
“[Neither] figure out how to make lifestyle decisions together,” Newman says. “Sagittarius is adventurous, unexpected, and impulsive, whereas Taurus is slow, calm, and stable,” she adds. Plus, in their relationship, they both have trust issues—Taurus thinks Sagittarius is fast and loose, and Sagittarius thinks Taurus is too reserved and conservative.
2. Sagittarius with Cancer
Cancer is a mutable fire sign that loves staying in its shell (err home). It has a hard time understanding Sag’s ever-changing character. “They dislike Sagittarius’s gregarious and adventurous character and instead value family most, and so they frequently expect their spouse to spend time with them,” Newman says.
And when Sag is out and about, Cancer believes Sagittarius has no feelings for them, and unfortunately, despite feelings present, Sagittarius believes Cancer is not ideal for them, long-term, either, as they want someone to share their world with.
3. Sagittarius with Virgo
Virgo is a mutable earth sign, and both it and Sag have an aversion toward marriage and settling down. This can create resistance from both ends that makes the relationship stagnant and slow-moving. “Sagittarius is frustrated by Virgo’s need for perfection, while Virgo believes Sagittarius is negligent because of their careless nature and with their management of things,” Newman says.
Both may be fairly romantic, but there will be acknowledgment of flaws that can hurt their day-to-day as a couple. “Sagittarius dislikes Virgo’s analytical behavior, whereas Virgo dislikes Sagittarius’s easy-goingness, thus it’s one of the hardest relationships for Sagittarius to manage,” Newman explains.
