Malyuk said, “All of this was implemented, we detained him. Polish colleagues worked professionally, it was our joint work with them.”
He added, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ABW of Poland (Internal Security Agency).
“This is the analogue of the SBU in Poland, the so-called internal special service. We implemented an important criminal proceeding together with them. A military pensioner, a Pole, who was recruited decades ago, firmly believed in the Soviet idea and harboured his intention through the years.”
RBC-Ukraine reported that the assassination attempt was foiled by Ukrainian SBU officers and Polish officers from the Agency for Homeland Security.

“From our side, this was a very difficult job. We have been working on it for almost two years – essentially, since the beginning of the war.
“We carried out a powerful intelligence and technical penetration into this group.
“In addition to the assassination attempt on the President, they collected information, transmitted it, including preparing an assassination attempt on my colleague Kyrylo Oleksiyovych Budanov and on me personally.”
In February President Zelensky revealed during an interview with the Guardian shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 Moscow tried to assassinate him which resulted with “some killed” inside the Presidential office.

In March 2022 there was at least three assassination attempts on President Zelensky’s life and before the battle of Kyiv started Russian forces were pushing on hard towards the capital, but they were defeated.
The assassination attempts included Chechen soldiers who were shot and killed after Ukrainian officials claimed they were tipped off by members of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the Kyiv Independent reports.
“There were people who wanted to kill (me), there were gunshots, and more. Some people were killed here, inside the Presidential Office, others were defending us,” Zelensky revealed during the interview with the Guardian.
