The Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is launching his new “Doge” unit at their first council to put an end to taxpayers money being wasted.
Reform UK has said for “far too long” taxpayers’ money has been wasted whilst “potholes remain unfixed” and local services are being axed.
Farage is setting up the Elon Musk style “Doge” unit which has data analysts, forensic auditors and software engineers who will head to ten councils that Reform has won in the local elections to find ways to claw back taxpayers’ money.
Reform UK’s chairman Zia Yusuf who formerly world for Merrill Lynch and Gold man Sachs specialised in defence companies and the automotive sector including Airbus will most likely lead the new department.
Yusuf said, “For too long, British taxpayers have watched their money vanish into a black hole.
“Their taxes keep going up, their bin collections keep getting less frequent, potholes remain unfixed, their local services keep getting cut.
“Reform won a historic victory on a mandate to change this. As promised, we have created a UK Doge to identify and cut wasteful spending of taxpayer money.
“Our team will use cutting edge technology and deliver real value for voters.”
The new unit will start their audit at Kent Council and the new Reform UK leader Linden Kemkaran has written to the authority’s chief executive Amanda Beer to inform her there will be a review of the Councils “financial management, procurement activity, and associated governance arrangements.”
The letter reads, “This review is part of Reform’s commitment to transparency, accountability, the prudent management of public funds and the highest standards in public life.
“Conducting this work was a core part of Reform’s local manifesto. We believe it is in the public interest to ensure that the council’s financial and procurement systems are robust, lawful, and value-driven.
“To that end, Kent council has appointed the Doge team, a unit of software engineers, data analysts and forensic auditors to conduct this review on our behalf.”
