Hospitality venues across the UK are gearing up for what looks like being one of biggest celebrations of all-things-Irish this weekend with Ireland playing Scotland in the Six Nations final round this Saturday, followed by St Patrick’s Day on Sunday.

Bookings and discovery platform DesignMyNight has seen a 42% increase in ticketed St Patrick’s Day events being organised across the country featuring everything from live Irish music, Irish-themed house parties, interactive comedy shows, bottomless brunches as well as plenty of venues selling whiskey cocktails, Irish oysters…and of course, lots of stout.

Amongst the many events taking place In London there’s the much-awaited opening of new Irish bar, Nancy Spain’s who’ll be serving up Murphy’s, Taytos and Irish-inspired cocktails in Shoreditch.

“With St Patrick’s Day falling at the same time as the Six Nations Rugby, we’re in for an amazing weekend of celebrations with lots of events being organised in, and outside the capital,” said,  DesignMyNight marketing manager Leighanne Bent.

“Venues have really made an effort to offer customers something different this year, so it’s going to be a great couple of days for hospitality. Let’s just hope no-one runs out of the Black Stuff!”
